Trailers for movies you should see: Chinatown

One of my favorite movies of all time, Chinatown (1974) stars Jack Nicholson as a Los Angeles Private Eye in a story that above all else, is about the formation of the San Fernando Valley, where I grew up.

Netflix it and enjoy a masterpiece.

The post with no name

If'in you don't know who this is, then this might not be the blog fer yew, pardner.

Age of Reptiles- the Journey cover

Wherever you go, there you are.

Sam Specter cover Witch

Which witch is which, lol?

Always wanted to write that!

armadillosuchus

This baby was found in Brazil. Don Glut, author of Dinosaurs-The Encyclopedia, told me that this might be a Chimera, a term used to describe several different types of fossils from different animals stitched together into one animal, but regardless it looks coolio.

Mummy 3- Tomb of the Whatever sketch

I'd like to thank all of the little people that made this possible, like me, and me, and also, me..

Mummy 3: Award winner?!

Who cares?

Not me, that's for sure.

I had so much fun on this movie, and was happy it won an award at the Cannes film festival that year.

Not really.

This drawing is almost as lame as the person who drew it.

My Godzilla

In the nineties I was asked to design a version of Godzilla for a film. Here it is.

Last one:

There ya go. This one's for my little nephew Nito, a huge Godzilla fan.

Chaplin/Los Angeles film locations documentary

As all five of you know, I'm a big Charlie Chaplin fan. This is about ten minutes long and shows where and when Charlie shot some of his films.

Old pic

In my defense it was the nineties and the shirts were kinda garish back then.

Crummy drawing of the day

Another Alamo storyboard

Ricardo's childhood toy of the week: Strange Change Machine!!!!

OMG OMG OMG!

I had this as a kid! You could put these...plastic squares into this...time machine to make dinosaurs and monsters out of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, so I was easily entertained at that age.

Here's the box and the display stand. The change machine is on the left, and who cares if it heated up dangerously around children and capable of burning a house to the ground?

Okay, I know the dinosaurs and monsters don't look that impressive now, but they were pure childhood gold to me...

Einstein documentary

Put all those stupid reality shows away today and learn something.

I like the part where he realizes the math in one of his theories is off, lol.

Creature from the Black Lagoon

I don;t know how many of you know this, but I'm a Creature of the Black Lagoon nerd. The sculpt on the left is the one they went with for the first film. The one on the right is from the sequels and feels clunky and poorly sculpted in contrast to the original.

Yikes!

sharks feed off whale carcass

Watch this after dinner.

The Friday Afternoon Cartoon

Check out some of the dimensional backgrounds in this baby, then go and have a nice weekend.

Ricardo's childhood toy of the week: Cylon Raider model kit

Yesssss! This rules!

('This rules!' is a term from the '70's)

This is from Battlestar Galactica, a pretty cool show from the late 1970's. I know or would accept any other version of this show, no matter how cool anybody tells me it is.

Patan

This is a place called Patan, somewhere in the Nepal area. It looks so beautiful.

It looks amazing to me, like something from a dream or another world...

These details are so beautiful...

I pulled these off the web. This stuff is so inspirational to me for my writing and drawing. I never want to stop dreaming and wanting to see what's on the other side of the hill, town, city or world.

Crummy drawing of the day

My son plays the violin, and I'm thinking of him this morning.

Crummy drawing of the day

I had salad for lunch.

Mummy of the day

Found during some road building in China.

You should put this in your living room and go sleep soundly knowing you have a house guest:)

Alamo storyboard panel

Had a lot of fun. Learned a lot about the history surrounding the time period. They made a gargantuan table top model of the whole fort.

Musket shots don't just hit the human body, they go into the body with a round hole, then blow out a huge hole out the back as they go out.

Ouch.

It's a storyboard panel!

The greatest car chase of all time

Shut up and watch this, all five of you.
If you don't know which movie this is from, too damn bad.
If you're a kid reading this blog, I didn't mean to use the word damn.

Treasure Planet centipede guy

Whatever

Yadda yadda yadda...

Borg Queen

So, in a rare moment that lacks in humility and under the further category of 'who cares?', I was the bozo that came up with the idea that the Borg Queen should come together from several, separate parts in Star Trek- First Contact.
