And the second design. There was an animal on Avatar the Last Airbender that I worked on which also had no sight, and that guy (I can't remember its name...oh, what! The Shirshu?!) influenced this one, but also I had always wanted to take the ornate dragon and chimera images of Ancient Asia and somehow make them workable, if that makes any sense.
